Modelling and Simulation

SEA’s modelling and simulation services draw together mechanical dynamics, hydrodynamics and aerodynamics disciplines to create high-fidelity, modular, simulations of interacting offshore equipments and vessels.

Recent projects include the high sea state recovery of large submersibles onto ships, recovery of helicopters onto ships in any sea state, an underwater winch operator and maintainer trainer, and a flight-deck operations trainer for helicopter recovery and deployment.

Our use of distributed simulation standards and technologies, High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS), ensures cost effectiveness for our customers through high re-usability and interoperability of simulation assets in fixed or portable solutions.

  • Real-time distributed simulation using DIS and HLA protocols, integrating in-house and externally developed models to investigate complex engineering problems
  • 3-D Physics based modelling, employed to solve dynamic operations such as the interactions of humans with machinery
  • Control system modelling using MATLAB and Simulink, developing algorithms and data fusion techniques for new system architectures
  • 2D and 3D visualisation, allowing the customer to gain a clearer understanding of the problem and potential solutions
