SEA supported a UK Government investigation into the merits of Augmented Reality to improve security
The Technology Demonstrator 3 (TD3) project is part of the INSTINCT (Innovative Science and Technology in Counter-Terrorism) cross-Government approach that seeks innovative solutions to support CONTEST, the UK’s Strategy for Countering International Terrorism. TD3 will investigate how Augmented Reality technologies could improve the Emergency Services response to threats from international terrorism, both now and in the future.
TD3 involves a five month study on behalf of more than a dozen different government departments and agencies. The newest and best Augmented Reality products will be sought from across industry and academia, and examined in realistic live trials and experiments. The culmination was a high profile Showcase Event in Central London at the end of January 2011, and the provision of an Enduring Capability that will be made available to industry and academia.
