JetSWATH, jointly developed by SEA and ITER, allows detailed, high-resolution seabed mapping in shallow waters with the ability to transit to and from the survey areas at high speed. The system comprises phase difference bathymetric sonar (PDBS) plus a full range of position, motion and navigation sensors, all built into a Bombardier Jet ski. The whole system is operated by the single Jet Ski rider using a waterproof console situated at the craft’s steering column.

The system supports a wide range of survey operations including very shallow waters (rivers, estuaries, near shore), seabed and structural surveys close to installations, and enables surveying in areas that cannot be reached by standard survey craft. It provides a complete survey package in one small, easy to transport and deploy package.

The survey sonar is SEA’s SWATHplus operating at 468 kHz giving very high resolutions across a wide swath, even in very shallow waters (as little as 1 metre deep). SWATHplus is a highly successful survey sonar selling into both the commercial and defence markets.

Benefits

  • cost-effective and fully integrated survey system, providing co-registered, high resolution bathymetry and seabed imagery in shallow waters
  • rapid survey operations in difficult marine environments
  • enables transit to and from survey areas at high speed
  • easy to deploy and use
  • wide swath to depth ratio of up to 20:1
  • data exportable to industry standard applications such as CARIS
  • high-quality results
  • IHO S-44 standard

Features

  • full range of position, motion and navigation sensors
  • based on a BRP SEA DOO GTX 155 watercraft
  • aluminium hull designed for shallow surveys in touogh environments
