Commercial Manager

SEA is looking for a Commercial Manger to lead projects, bids and all commercial contracts with customers and suppliers. This is a key business management role within a dynamic, growing organisation, focused primarily on defence and transport sectors, supporting multi-disciplinary professional teams designing and delivering high technology communication systems, research and technical support.

Job Role

The role will be but not exclusively:

  • Supporting divisional senior management, business development and project delivery teams
  • To be the main point of contact with customers and subcontractors for all commercial matters relating to contracts and bids
  • Providing a professional, independent oversight of all contracts and commitments to minimise commercial risk and maximise financial returns
  • Preparing and oversee all commercial inputs into bids, manages all internal pricing reviews and approvals
  • Engaging in the management of the business providing expert commercial input into all business activities, and key input into governance activities, including monthly performance reviews, forecasting and budgeting
  • To be active in engagement with the wider commercial team in delivering continuous improvement in the commercial management of SEA; identification and implementation of best practice, enhanced commercial processes and maintaining/developing knowledge on compliance matters    

Experience Required

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Extensive experience (5 years minimum) in a commercial management role preferably within the defence sector, including leading on bid pricing, negotiation of terms and conditions and other contractual documentation
  • Experience of export compliance and trade control issues, including working with US-sourced controlled data, goods and services (ITAR/EAR)
  • Strong written, communication, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Experienced at building strong business relationships across internal teams and with external contacts
