Product Assurance Manager

SEA is seeking to recruit a Product Assurance Manager. This position will work with the company’s manufacturing teams and the project development teams to ensure excellence in all the company’s deliverables. The company operates in the defence, aerospace and transport product industries.

The job will be based at SEA’s Barnstaple office, although the candidate will be expected to work at times at other SEA and customer sites, where business needs arise.

Job Role

Reporting to the Product & Technical Director the purpose of the role is to provide independent quality and product assurance support to the company.

Main duties will include:

  • Identifying customer and stakeholder Product Assurance (PA) requirements and ensuring they are flowed-down across SEA projects and production
  • Ensuring PA requirements are addressed by project plans and internal controls
  • Promoting best quality practice (i.e. documentation, design for production, configuration management, reliability, FMECA, etc.) across the company
  • Identifying PA risks, failures and non-conformances and ensuring effective action is taken to resolve issues and identify the root cause
  • Identifying appropriate suppliers and ensuring PA requirements are flowed-down
  • Maintaining effective quality relationships with suppliers
  • Working with suppliers to ensure that supplier performance, risks, failure and non-conformance are effectively managed and that SEA has a high level of confidence that all incoming items are fit for purpose
  • Ensuring that all company inputs (from suppliers) and outputs (deliverables) are fit for purpose

Experience Required

The candidate shall have experience / knowledge of:

  • Product assurance of Electro / Mechanical manufacturing within the defence / aerospace industries
  • Defining and working to defence / aerospace manufacturing standards such AS91000
  • Working with engineering development teams and engineering support teams
  • Team management including but not limited to:
    • Day to day task allocation
    • Monitoring staff performance
    • Staff development
    • Annual appraisals
  • Working with and acting as the PA interface into external customers and supply chain
