Our trainable decoy launcher, Ancilia, and Torpedo Launcher Systems deliver rapid response in a complex threat environment.

As maritime threats become faster and more diverse, naval platforms must respond with unprecedented speed, often without time to manoeuvre. Disposable drones and hypersonic missiles add to a complex threat landscape, where countermeasures must react quickly, proportionately and cost-effectively to mitigate risks.

Our Ancilia trainable decoy launcher aims to combat this threat. Selected by the UK Royal Navy as part of the Ministry of Defence’s Electronic Warfare Countermeasures Increment 1A programme, Ancilia’s trainable nature removes the need for the platform to manoeuvre itself to counter an incoming threat.

The launcher is also ammunition-agnostic, capable of firing 130mm and 170mm NATO-standard rounds — including flares, chaff, and other compatible decoys. This highly adaptable capability can be tailored to a navy’s threat environment, while also helping prevent future capability obsolescence as countermeasure technology evolves.

Teaming for Success

To further enhance Ancilia’s offer, we have partnered with Danish technology company Terma to provide a best-in-class countermeasures solution – Ancilia powered by C-Guard MKII.

Combining Ancilia with Terma’s C-Guard MKII, which leverages AI-enhanced algorithms and a flexible, multi-decoy approach, Ancilia powered by C-Guard MKII, delivers an end-to-end solution for naval platforms. When equipped with advanced, programmable decoy rounds, such as those from Chemring countermeasures, this integrated solution offers an intelligent, defensive capability.

“Modern naval operations demand systems that are responsive, flexible and resilient,” Nick Poplawski, Head of Ship & Fleet Protection at SEA said. “By combining flexibility, speed, and intelligence in a single capability, Ancilia provides next-level protection for vessels operating in today’s complex threat environment.”

A diverse countermeasures capability is crucial, and SEA’s proven weapon-agnostic configurable torpedo launcher systems provide a reliable and flexible offer for navies worldwide. A core component of the Royal Navy's Type 23 frigate upgrade, as well as for navies in the Asia-Pacific and Latin America, the rapid reaction system, capable of firing NATO compatible standard lightweight torpedoes, ensures that navies retain supply chain control through a flexible choice of ammunition suppliers.

Chris Bennett, Head of Torpedo Launcher Systems at SEA added, “By offering a flexible, ammunition-agnostic solution that integrates seamlessly with existing and future platforms, we’re helping navies across the globe protect their fleets against surface, subsurface and air threats. Through our close relationships with customers, we’re also able to provide through-life support for fleet and ship protection systems, delivering training, servicing, and maintenance to help future-proof and ensure capability readiness.”
