The KraitArray is at the heart of SEA’s KraitSense capability and there are more than 50 now fully deployed and in operational service across the UK, Europe, Americas, Asia and Australia. Providing a cost-effective alternative to larger traditional sonar, KraitSense is an advanced ASW, ISR, and maritime situational awareness solution which combines the proven miniaturised KraitArray sonar and intelligent data-processing software.
Consistently evolved and developed for almost 15 years, KraitArray and KraitSense have been designed to be deployable from both uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs) and uncrewed underwater vehicles (UUVs). In fact, at DSEI, KraitSense was demonstrated on ACUA’s uncrewed surface vehicle, PIONEER, showing the versatility of the forward-thinking capability.

This inherent flexibility for us on both crewed, uncrewed, surface and sub-surface vessels allows navies to significantly expand their anti-submarine warfare capabilities without needing to increase crew numbers or platform size.
Chris Tucker, Sonar Product Technical Authority at SEA said, “While the ASW and asymmetric/hybrid threat is increasing, we’re also facing a shortage of skilled and experience sonar operators. By leveraging high-performance, miniaturised sonar solutions such as KraitSense, navies can effectively navigate these challenges and expand their ASW and ISR operations.”
Incorporating intelligent processing technology, KraitSense leverages machine learning developed with partners such as Mind Foundry that autonomously triages underwater acoustic data for analysis by operators. This enables the capability to detect and classify contacts of potential interest.
Due to its modularity, KraitSense and KraitArray can be retrofitted to existing vessels, allowing navies across the globe to enhance their fleets with the latest ASW and ISR capabilities. The design of the capability also allows for integration with other naval systems to support interoperability and joint mission capabilities, as well as efficiency upgrades as new threats emerge.
This inherent flexibility and adaptability has seen the solution adopted across the globe by a Southeast Asian navy and industry partners including ACUA Ocean.
