Sonar 2076 TAHS Operator Maintainer Trainer
SEA developed the Towed Array Handling System trainer which is installed at the Astute Training Facility. The trainer adopts the same ‘look and feel’ as the BAE Systems VORTEX training environment.
The system follows a modular component-based design, which includes 3D equipment visualisations, behaviour models, a physics model and HLA-based communications. The visualisations are supported emulations of functionality, along with fault injection and handling.
In addition, a physics model is used to provide realistic behaviour of some of the winch-based mechanical systems, while an HLA-based communications infrastructure supports instructor control and monitoring of the trainees. The Trainee interface utilises both screens of the VORTEX dual head PC workstations.Download the Case Study
